Let’s face it, trying to find a job can be a royal pain. The wasted hours searching online, the networking, the humiliation of getting rejected again and again. Ughh! Who needs it? But…landing that dream job and getting on the path to having a successful and fulfilling career, well, that can make it all worth while, right? Maybe you have read that it takes the average job and career seeker about 4 months to find a new job. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a long time. And that’s just the average, meaning it of course takes some people even longer. But whether you have been searching for a job for only a few weeks, or for many months, you can dramatically accelerate the process so that you can find a great job in a short period of time. In fact, I’m going to share with you a job search master plan that I developed, as a result of my own job search.
You might wonder why you should take advice from me. Well, I’ve recently been where you are now, searching for a job. Of course I was frustrated, and it didn’t help that I had a wife and two young children to support. And of course I followed the same old strategies that everyone else uses to find a job, but without much success. I did the searching online, I did my share of networking, but I still had a great deal of difficulty landing interviews. And when I did get one, I wasn’t able to convince the hiring person that I was the best candidate for the position. By the way, I also tried some of the “unconventional” tricks and tactics that were recommended to me, but while some of them are great ideas, I discovered that there are specific situations when you want to use them, and other times when doing so can kill your chances of landing a job.
After a good deal of trial and error, I did come up with a system to conduct an effective job search. But just because it worked for me didn’t necessarily mean it worked for others. Whenever I came across someone looking for a job, I would share these strategies with them. Of course some job hunters didn’t want to take my advice, but a good number of people did. And it didn’t seem to matter whether they were out of work, or currently employed but unhappy with their job, as the strategies I shared with them helped just about all of them land a job in a relatively fast period of time.
So what I’m talking about is a complete job search master plan that works, now, in today’s highly competitive job market.
